With the Desjardins RESP, you could benefit from the Canada Learning Bond (CLB), a new federal government program.
To qualify for the CLB:
 | The RESP beneficiary must have been born after December 31, 2003;
|
 | The child’s caregiver must receive the National Child Benefit Supplement as part of the Canada Child Tax Benefit (family allowance in Québec), which usually applies to families with net income of $37,178* or less. (*For 2007. These income brackets are revised annually.) |
With the CLB, the federal government makes an initial payment of $500 and additional payments of $100 per year for a maximum of 15 years as long as the child’s primary caregiver receives the National Child Benefit Supplement (family allowance in Québec).
